Have Community Groups impacted your life?! The grace of God changes our lives so that we can be instrumental to change the lives of others. We have been blessed, to be a blessing! If you would like to grow in serving others as a Groups leader, we’d love to welcome you to take the next step as an Apprentice. If you haven’t already done so, please first talk to your Group leader about pursuing this opportunity.
Are you growing in your love for God?
Is God’s love transforming your heart to love people?
To boil it down, we’re looking for people who love God and love people. As we humble ourselves before the Lord to be used for His Kingdom purposes, these foundational qualities will be ever growing. If you’re not sure this characterizes you, ask! Ask your spouse. Ask your Group leader if they see a growing love for the Lord and the people He brings your way.
Depending on your past experience, we’d like to give you one to two semesters of being an Apprentice to get a good taste of leading. Your Leaders will give you opportunities to lead different aspects of the meeting as one of their goals is to “work themselves out of a job.” This is a great opportunity to grow in helping those in your group Belong, Behold our God, and Become more like Jesus. Specific opportunities to pursue during this time also include:
- Placing your membership with GFC
- Take advantage of various Groups and Conferences throughout the year!
- Attending a Group Leader Training in the Fall or Winter.
After at least a couple of months as an Apprentice, ask your Leader if they think it’s wise to continue the process to Launch. If it seems the Lord is directing you to lead a group, please fill out the Written Interview (if married, only one Interview needs to be completed). Once this is completed, the Director of Groups will be in touch with you to arrange a time to talk through the Interview and next steps.
If you’d rather have a paper copy of the Interview or any other questions, just drop us a note at [email protected].
Once you’ve completed the Interview, it’s time to work out the details! It is ideal to start with at least a core group of 6 to 8 people, so be working with your Leaders and praying for who would be launching with you. The roles you need are: Leaders (you!), Host (someone with the gift of hospitality), and Anchor (a couple of people that you can count on to show up, rain or shine). Fill out this form then to help us get you on the website and in the database:
