Missionaries who stay
What is a Barnabas Team?
In the book of 3 John, God tells us,
“You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God. For they have gone out for the sake of the name… Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.”
Barnabas Teams are the front lines of our prayer and logistical support for our cross-cultural workers.
What am I committing to if I decide to join a Barnabas Team?
For the glory of God and the spread of His Gospel to the ends of the Earth, we commit to the following:
Abide in Jesus – John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
We commit to spending extravagant time with Jesus and make abiding in Him our first priority and the foundation of our ministries.
Intercede in prayer – Eph 6:18 “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…”
We commit to pray and fast, with perseverance, for the cross-cultural workers, foreign peoples, and global ministries the Lord has given us to participate.
Living strategically – Eph 5:15-17 “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
We commit to using our resources (time, money, energy, possessions, etc.) strategically to accomplish God’s vision of filling the whole earth with His glory.
Expect great things from God and attempt great things with God – Eph 3:20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
We commit to asking, dreaming, and working toward fuller, richer, and more robust expressions of God’s glory on Earth – especially where He is not currently worshiped.
