John & Sandie Dostal
Partnering with local Czech churches and Christians to establish communities of discipleship and biblical pastoral care.
Meet the Dostals!
John and Sandie Dostal have been serving in the Czech Republic since 2011. They have known one another more than half of their lives and have partnered in the gospel since the beginning of their relationship! God has blessed them with five children: Caleb, Hannah, Samuel, Abram, and Noah.
John and Sandie have a primary focus of partnering with local Czech churches and Christians to establish communities of discipleship and biblical pastoral care. The Czech Republic is a beautiful, diverse, and small European country of 10 million people located between Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Austria. It is the third most atheistic country in the world (2012), where more than 85% of the population is atheist, agnostic, or disinterested in God. Evangelical Christians make up less than 1% of the population (0.3-0.5%). Church leaders share that there are few functioning examples or models of healthy local church ministries. Czech unbelievers – and many believers – have a low view of the church, the Bible, and the power of the gospel to change lives and engage culture. There is a great need for a revitalization of gospel living within the small Christian communities of the Czech Republic.
One of the Dostals encouraging verses is Philippians 1:27: “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.” John and Sandie work to live lives worthy of the gospel and transformed by the gospel. This connects them and calls them to partner and fellowship with the global, timeless body of Christ!
As a family, the Dostals enjoy music, reading, camping under the stars, cultivating the small plot of earth they call home in the Czech Republic and exploring God’s vast creation together with those around them!
